Pass a background check

background check

Complete the LiveScan and pass your
background check

Obtain a PTIN number

Apply for your personal taxpayer identification
number (PTIN) on the Intemal Revenue Service (IRS)
website at www.irs.gov/ptin

Purchase a surety bond

Purchase a valid tax preparer surety bond

Finalize your registration

Complete your online registration with the California
Tax Education Council (CTEC) at www.ctec.org

All done!

for your clients
